The four-book series, titled ‘Parents with the Growing Child,’ was officially launched by General Education Minister V. Sivankutty. The books are tailored to meet the needs of students at different stages: Pre-Primary, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and High School-Higher Secondary.

Minister Sivankutty highlighted Kerala’s ongoing efforts to lead in the field of education. “This initiative fosters a stronger connection between parents, teachers, and students, ensuring the all-round development of children,” he said.

These books provide practical advice on supporting children’s learning, emotional growth, and developmental milestones. They go beyond just reading material by forming the backbone of a structured parent education programme. The Department of Education, in partnership with trained teachers, will guide parents across the state using the insights provided in the books.

Kerala is the first state in India to introduce a focused approach to parenting education as part of its curriculum reforms. The creation of these books was based on recommendations from a special working group established to enhance parental involvement in public education.

“By addressing parents’ concerns and guiding them effectively, these books will encourage more active participation in public education, ultimately strengthening Kerala’s renowned education system,” Sivankutty added.

The government is optimistic that this initiative will further enhance Kerala’s reputation as a pioneer in public education and deepen the involvement of parents in their children’s academic journey.
